i was planning on staying in today and glueing myself to the computer. despite the fact that this is bad for my posture and that i should probably get more sunshine (gotta have that vitamin D..), i started working on a new structure i'd been turning over in my head since Friday. i was a little worried about how i'd manage some of the graphics since slicing is still a little new to me, but i was still delighting in the thrill of creating something new, if not entirely original.
however as the afternoon edged on i was suddenly reminded of other plans i'd absent-mindedly agreed to. last night on my way home from a cousin's birthday party (all the way up in l.a.)
Ron, my favorite junk food friend called me up about hanging out later in the evening. i was so not up to this. after being a helpless passenger subjugated to the whims of my sister's maneuverings on the road, i was drained. exhausted. i was a drained, exhausted little wash-rag of a girl. i wanted to relax and do some work. i did not have the stamina to meet
Ron's own high-energy personality. just the thought of the prospect made me sleepy. i gave him a rain-check and told him to try me today around two p.m., then i promptly fell asleep.
so i was pounding away on my laptop and then i get the call and i'm like,"not now. please not now.", but i go and i drag my sister along with me too. she deserves it. not that
Ron is bad company. quite the contrary i think, if anything Ron can be amazingly entertaining, if only through his particular mix of stupidity and craziness. this is not to say Ron is not intelligent. he is very intelligent, he's just stupid too.
anyway, the intent was to watch a cheesy movie. we all agreed
Resident Evil fit the bill. now that i'd worked myself up to it (jeez, a week spent at home had turned me into a hermit) i was actually looking forward to it. afterall, i love the game and i expected nothing more from the movie than great special effects and suspenseful action (both of which i got my fill of). hey, i'm not a move critic---if i'm entertained its enough for me. i'm even anticipating the sequel a bit.
so after that we trotted over to
Starbucks to chat about all the latest
Buffy episodes (he's an avid fan and i'm too busy to watch anymore). i'm not a real patron, its just a convenient place to meet. Ron works for them, though, you can send him hate mail. nah. actually Ron is one of their most fervent detractors and frequently steals beverage coupons and certificates and passes them out to strangers and friends so they won't feed the "corporate pig" their money--or whatever.
hey free drinks.
